Quick Look At The Markets Before The Fed Decision
Today at 2pm eastern time the Fed will announce the next interest rate decision. Will they pause or do another 25bps hike is the question. The consensus is that they will pause rate hikes. However, with inflation surprising to the upside over the last two months I imagine they will remain pretty hawkish in their rhetoric.
Either way, I don’t really care what they do, the overall outlook remains the same. This afternoon’s decision will create some short term price action volatility. It’s possible they pause, and the market sells off seeing this as concern from the Fed. It’s also possible they raise due to the recent inflation numbers and the market bounces higher, pricing in being close to the top of rate hikes.
